Learn CPR. You could save a life!
CPR is an emergency procedure for a person who is not breathing or whose heart has stopped.
Check if the person is conscious.
Gently shake their shoulders and ask loudly – Are you all right? Can you hear me? Open your eyes!
If there is no response, call 911.
The emergency number differs from country to country.
Step 1. Give 30 chest compressions.
Lay the person on their back and kneel next to them.
Place the heel of one hand on the center of their chest.
Place the other hand on top of the first hand and interlock your fingers.
Press down about 5 cm and then release the pressure.
Do this 30 times at a rate of about twice a second.
Step 2. Give 2 rescue breaths.
Tilt their head back and lift their chin to open their airway.
Pinch their nose.
Take a deep breath.
Cover their mouth with yours.
Blow into their mouth until their chest rises.
Remove your mouth and let the air out.
Do this once more.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 until help arrives or the victim wakes up.
